Hello! My name is Jon Lieber and I am currently a senior at the University of Missouri, graduating in May 2025. As a student at the Missouri School of Journalism, I have had the opportunity to try my hand at many different aspects of the journalism world, but I have found my place working in sports at KOMU-TV in Columbia, the only university-owned major network affiliate station in the country.

Social media is one of the most important tools we, as journalists, have in the newsroom in the 21st century. A digital-first newsroom reaches their audience faster and allows for feedback to be freely articulated by followers. I believe using social media with a purpose can be a journalist's biggest asset. I strive to interact with my follower base on social media every time I publish a story, shoot highlights or anchor a sportscast. In the fall of 2024, I took a Social Media and Audience Strategy class that focused on working with a client. Throughout the class I helped Day Dreams Foundation increase their follower count and push users to a website to raise funds. This class may have been focused on working with clients but the class taught me numerous skills to apply to my own social media strategy.
